Work Experience

Contract Administration:

  • Contract management for all of civil engineering projects
  • Preparation of contract documents and administration of the contract.

Monitoring of works:

  • Civil construction projects, including residential and commercial subdivisions up to $3M in value.
  • Infrastructural and utility services installation and diversion.
  • Stormwater drainage and stream realignments.
  • New road construction, road widening and upgrading, and seal rehabilitation works for Regional Arterial to minor roads and car parking areas up to $2M dollar value.
  • Bulk earthworks.

Hydrological Design:

  • Hydrology, rivers control and drainage.
  • Stormwater management and stream realignments.
  • Hydrological bridge waterway assessments.
  • Hydrological assessment for Armco culvert under the North-western Motorway at Western Springs.
  • Computer programming for hydrological data processing, analysis of hydrological data and analysis of groundwater drawdown testing.
  • Investigation into groundwater and groundwater quantity in the Canterbury region. Undertook seminars and visits to other Catchment Boards to assist in computer applications.
  • Design of major stormwater detention dams.

Structural Design:

  • Structural design of industrial, horticultural, recreational, educational and residential buildings.
  • Structural design of commercial buildings of up to nine storeys.
  • Design of major structures using timber, steel, masonry and reinforced concrete.
  • Design of major retaining walls for temporary works and for cliff and slope stabilising works.
  • Design and testing of aluminium framed structures including conservatories, glasshouses and swimming pool enclosures.
  • Design and monitoring of civil engineering works for residential and industrial subdivisions, and for large commercial buildings.
  • Design of timber trusses and timber framed buildings.

Management:

  • Extensive experience in business and project management.
  • Obtained an MBA degree from Massey University.
  • Has an interest in project management, management of human resources, and economic analysis of projects.
