Our Process

Retaining Wall

Initially a scoping meeting is held either at our office or on site to confirm the client’s brief and to afford an opportunity to identify any potential issues at an early stage. This meeting is then followed up with our fee proposal and scoping document for client approval. We maintain close client engagement with the design and consenting processes to ensure that all parties are kept abreast of progress and that where required any changes are notified and approved prior to execution.

We work closely with any other specialist consultants and maintain a good relationship with specialist consultants in the numerous other fields of civil and environmental engineering. Where possible we utilize our in-house survey and structural engineering team to support the development of the project.

Concept designs are taken to the client for approval, and following any required changes are then transformed into final designs for a quantity surveyor to complete accurate pricing and scheduling of the works.

Civil EngineeringThe final design documentation is then reviewed by the consenting team and requisite consent applications completed and lodged for approval with the relevant consent authorities.

Where required we can assist with the procurement of competitively priced tenders/quotations for the work. We are able to offer either open or closed scoured tender processes. We have extensive experience with the various forms of contract and the use of standard contract processes and documentation.

Construction monitoring is carried out in accordance with best practice guidelines and where applicable the IPENZ & ACFENZ guidelines.

We have developed excellent skills in the ability to work within a matrix of extensive processes, perhaps best illustrated in the process chart below which was used for the recent Auckland Council parks development project. Click here

Client: Auckland Council
Project: Renewal of existing carpark and playground upgrade

Services provided included Resource Management Planning, Civil and Environmental Engineering.

This project was led by one of our talented Civil Engineers, Stephen Currie, who worked alongside the great team Rohits Civil and Infrastructure, Peers Brown Miller Ltd, Envirotech Maintenance Ltd & Philippa Bollond Future Landscapes Ltd to get the job done.

The works included renewal of the existing carpark and playground area. The upgrade enables vehicles to turn on site and exit forward, improving the safety of children and their parents. A new footpath from the carpark area allows for greater use throughout the year, eliminating the boggy walkway that was once there. Check out the before and after pics!

The new playground provides a variety of play opportunities; a new set of double swings with a basket swing and a toddler and junior swing, a climbing cube with a hammock and basket for older kids to hang out in, a seesaw and carousel, and a small play module which caters for the younger children.

The play area was an extremely difficult space to work on, the civil, playground contractors along with the arborist and the landscape team worked together to setup the play equipment physically, working around the root systems of protected trees.
